The Kingdom of God

The Kingdom of God

1. What Is the Kingdom of God?

The Kingdom of God is not only a place, but primarily God’s rule and authority over people and over all creation.

The Kingdom is God’s Sovereign Reign

The Bible shows that God is the supreme King:

“The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.”
Psalm 103:19 (KJV)

The Kingdom of God means that God reigns with righteousness, peace, and holiness.

The Kingdom is a Present Spiritual Reality

Jesus taught that the Kingdom begins within the hearts of people:

“The kingdom of God is within you.”
Luke 17:21 (KJV)

The Kingdom is Also a Future Eternal Reality

It will be fully established at the end:

“The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”
Revelation 11:15 (KJV)

2. Who Can Enter the Kingdom of God?

The Bible is very clear: not everyone enters automatically, but those who are transformed by God.

A. Those Who Are Born Again

Jesus said:

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
John 3:3 (KJV)

To be born again means receiving new life through the Holy Spirit.

B. Those Who Repent and Believe the Gospel

“Repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
Mark 1:15 (KJV)

Entering the Kingdom requires turning away from sin and trusting in Jesus Christ.

C. Those Who Are Humble Like Children

“Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.”
Mark 10:15 (KJV)

The Kingdom belongs to those who come with humility, trust, and dependence on God.

D. Those Who Do the Will of God

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
Matthew 7:21 (KJV)

E. Those Who Are Pure and Righteous Through Christ

“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”
Matthew 5:8 (KJV)

3. Who Governs the Kingdom of God?

A. God the Father is the Supreme King

“For God is the King of all the earth.”
Psalm 47:7 (KJV)

B. Jesus Christ Reigns as King

The Kingdom has been given to the Son:

“KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Revelation 19:16 (KJV)

Jesus Sits on the Throne

“The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand…”
Psalm 110:1 (KJV)

His Dominion Will Never End

“And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom… his kingdom shall not be destroyed.”
Daniel 7:14 (KJV)

C. The Saints Will Reign with Christ

God shares His Kingdom with His people:

“And we shall reign on the earth.”
Revelation 5:10 (KJV)

“If we suffer, we shall also reign with him.”
2 Timothy 2:12 (KJV)

4. Who Cannot Enter the Kingdom of God?

The Bible teaches that the Kingdom of God is holy, and not everyone will inherit it. Those who remain in sin without repentance cannot enter.

C. Those Who Reject the New Birth

Jesus said that entering the Kingdom requires spiritual transformation:

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
John 3:3 (KJV)

B. Those Who Live in Unrepentant Sin

Scripture warns that those who continue in sinful lifestyles without turning to Christ will not inherit God’s Kingdom:

“Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers… nor thieves… shall inherit the kingdom of God.”
1 Corinthians 6:9–10 (KJV)

C. Those Who Only Profess Faith Without Obedience

Words alone are not enough if the heart does not follow God’s will:

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father…”
Matthew 7:21 (KJV)

5. Conclusion: The Message of the Kingdom

The Kingdom of God is:

  • God’s rule over all things
  • The reign of Jesus Christ as the chosen King
  • The life of the redeemed in God’s presence
  • A present spiritual reality and an eternal future hope
