Christ the Son of God, the Word

The Bible presents Jesus Christ as the Son of God, sent from heaven for the salvation of mankind. He is also called the Word (the Logos), through whom God revealed His divine plan.

1. Christ is the Word from the Beginning

The Gospel of John opens with a profound revelation about the origin of Christ:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”(John 1:1, KJV)

Christ was present even before creation of the world, being the first creation of God.

2. The Son Through Whom All Things Were Created

Scripture teaches that God created the universe through His Son:

For by him were all things created… all things were created by him, and for him.
(Colossians 1:16, KJV)

And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
(Colossians 1:17, KJV)

“…that in all things he might have the preeminence.
(Colossians 1:18–19, KJV)

Christ is the center of creation and of God’s redemptive plan.

3. God Declares Jesus as His Son

At the baptism of the Lord, the Father spoke from heaven:

This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
(Matthew 3:17, KJV)

This confirms Christ’s unique position as the Son of God.

4. Jesus Gives His Life in Obedience to the Father

The Lord Jesus speaks about His willing sacrifice:

I lay down my life, that I might take it again.”(John 10:17, KJV)

No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself.
(John 10:18, KJV)

He came as Savior and servant, in submission to the Father.

5. Christ Was Sent from Heaven

Jesus clearly states that He did not come in His own name but was sent by the Father:

I am come in my Father’s name.(John 5:43, KJV)

For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.”(John 6:38, KJV)

6. The Son Under the Authority of the Father

Christ reveals divine order and relationship:

My Father is greater than I.(John 14:28, KJV)

I can of mine own self do nothing.(John 5:30, KJV)

I proceeded forth and came from God.(John 8:42, KJV)

These verses show the love, obedience, and submission of the Son to the Father.

7. Christ as the Perfect Servant

Jesus said of Himself:

I am among you as he that serveth.
(Luke 22:27, KJV)

8. The Head of Christ is God

The Apostle Paul confirms the spiritual order:

The head of Christ is God.
(1 Corinthians 11:3, KJV)

9. Jesus Returns to His Father

After the resurrection, Jesus declared:

I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.”
(John 20:17, KJV)

10. God Has Begotten Us Again Through Christ

Peter praises God for salvation:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ… hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
(1 Peter 1:3, KJV)

11. The Son is Anointed and Loved by God

Scripture declares concerning the Son:

God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness.”
(Hebrews 1:8–9, KJV)

12. Christ is Glorified as the Son

Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.”
(Hebrews 5:5, KJV)

13. One God and One Lord

The Apostle summarizes the Christian faith:

To us there is but one God, the Father… and one Lord Jesus Christ.”
(1 Corinthians 8:5–6, KJV)

14. Christ Exalted in Glory

Stephen saw the risen Lord:

Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.”
(Acts 7:56, KJV)
